The Secret Weapon
in the Battle Against Infection

What if we told you that there was a secret weapon against infection that:

  • Required 15 seconds or less
  • Required no special equipment
  • Required a minimum of training
  • Could help protect you against not only colds but serious diseases such as Strep and MRSA
Would you use this secret weapon?

Of course you would!

And what is this secret weapon that can protect you against the spread of infection in 15 seconds or less, requires no special training or equipment?

CLEANING YOUR HANDS!

That's right. The simple act of cleaning your hands can help fight against the spread of infection. It only takes a few seconds, yet despite the demonstrated health benefits of hand cleaning, many people don't do it enough. This is shown by simply observing at random how many people exit public restrooms without cleaning their hands. However, often there is an excuse for not washing your hands...when Soap, Water & a Towel are not available.

But now there is a solution for those times when Soap, Water & a Towel are not available. Use SANITAIRE Instant Hand Sanitizer. It's 3 products in 1: soap, water and towel. Imagine all the times you should wash your hands but couldn't because of the lack of accessibility to a sink. In the car, on the beach, picnicking, on the playground and in the stands at your favorite sporting event. Now there is no excuse! Use SANITAIRE Instant Hand Sanitizer to kill more than 99.99% of the germs that collect on your hands EVERY DAY!

Why is it important?

Germs accumulate on your hands as you perform daily activities. By not cleaning your hands you can acquire or pass on a host of ailments, from the common cold to more serious diseases like dysentery (an intestinal infection) or even hepatitis (inflammation of the liver).

Most cases of diarrhea and vomiting are caused by germs acquired through inadequate hand cleaning. Pneumonia and influenza, the sixth leading causes of death in the United States, can be acquired the same way.

What's proper hand cleaning?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers these instructions for proper hand cleaning:
  • Use soap and running water, or SANITAIRE when neither are available.
  • Rub your hands vigorously as you clean them.
  • Clean all surfaces, including backs of hands, wrists, between fingers and under fingernails.
  • Rinse well and leave the water running until after drying hands. - This is not necessary when using SANITAIRE.
  • Dry hands with a single-use towel.- This is not necessary when using SANITAIRE.
  • Turn off faucet using a paper towel. - This is not necessary when using SANITAIRE.

When should you clean?

Although it's impossible to keep your hands germ-free, there are times when it's critical to clean your hands, particularly:
  1. Before eating
  2. After using the bathroom
  3. After changing diapers clean your child's hands too
  4. Before and after handling raw meat, poultry or fish
  5. After touching animals
  6. After handling money
  7. After blowing your nose
  8. After coughing or sneezing on your hands
  9. Before and after treating wounds or cuts or touching a sick or injured person
  10. After handling garbage

Think about that list

How often would you have Soap, Water & a Towel available when you needed to wash your hands?

From that CDC list, we can imagine 10 out of 10 times, when we would not have access to Soap, Water & a Towel.

SANITAIRE solves the need for Soap, Water & a Towel.

All it takes is a dime-sized drop of SANITAIRE on the palm of your hand. Thoroughly rub it into your hands and in seconds the specially formulated gel kills more than 99.99% of the germs, while leaving your hands moisturized with no oily, greasy feeling...all without Soap, Water & a Towel!

Get your children into the habit

Teach by example, clean your hands with your children and supervise their hand cleaning. Place hand cleaning reminders at childrens' eye level by the bathroom sink. Here are some tips to make it fun:
  • Post a chart by the sink to let your children mark every time they clean their hands.
  • Set goals for the number of times your children are to clean their hands daily.
  • Offer a reward when your children meet the goal for several days in a row.

Screen child-care providers

To protect your child's health, choose a child-care provider who practices sound hygiene, including frequent hand cleaning.

"The single best thing child-care centers can do to prevent infections is to have sinks that are low enough for children to use," says Jay Hoecker, M.D., a specialist in pediatric infectious diseases at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn. "Most sinks are pretty difficult for toddlers and preschoolers to use. At home or at child care, put a stool underneath the sink so that children can reach it."

Dr. Hoecker recommends choosing a child-care provider that requires children to clean their hands several times each day ? not just before meals. Note whether diapering areas are cleaned after each use and whether eating and diapering areas are well separated.

Toys are another important part of the hygiene picture. Look for child-care centers where plastic toys are cleaned at least daily and stuffed toys are cleaned weekly.
